Rio de Janeiro is known worldwide for its viewpoints Christ the Redeemer and Sugar Loaf mountain. Both attractions are the highlights of Rio de Janeiro and they have been seen millions of times by tourists on television, magazines, newspapers and the internet.
Amidst these images seen by millions of people, Rio de Janeiro's nature density draws the attention of everyone who looks at photos of the city. And it's no wonder: Rio de Janeiro is perhaps the number 1 big city with the most concentration of mountains in the entire world. Therefore, Rio's landscapes are certainly not limited to Christ Redeemer and Sugar Loaf.
Below, I will give you tips on 5 viewpoints of Rio de Janeiro off the beaten path with stunning views, which can be accessed without the need to hike, and which do not charge an entrance fee:

- Pedra Bonita Ramp: Place of practitioners of Paragliding and Hanggliding, the ramp of Pedra Bonita, which can be accessed by car, has an imposing view of Gavea Rock, the world's biggest monolith starting in the ocean coast. The view from this point is so special because on one side you see the Gavea Rock and on the other side you can visualize the Two Brothers Hills.

- Two Brothers Park Viewpoint: not to be confused with the top of the Two Brothers mountain (which is accessed via a 1-hour trail from the top of the Vidigal Favela), this viewpoint is located inside the Two Brothers Park. Right at the end of Leblon beach, there is a car road that starts climbing the edge of Two Brothers hill. In addition to enjoying a beautiful view of Leblon and Ipanema beaches, the region has been revitalized and has a very green area for walking.

- Dona Marta Viewpoint: this viewpoint has two sides: on one side, you can see part of Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon and the Corcovado mountain with the statue of Christ the Redeemer from a different angle than any other viewpoint. And on the other side, the entire Guanabara Bay impresses tourists, who can also see the imposing Sugar Loaf Mountain up close, right at the entrance to the Bay.

- Chinese View: One of the most beautiful viewpoints in the city of Rio de Janeiro, Chinese View is the only viewpoint, considering the viewpoints that can be reached by car and not by trail, that provides a view of Sugar Loaf Mountain, the statue of Christ the Redeemer, Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas, the beaches of Leblon, Ipanema and Copacabana and Guanabara Bay from the same angle.

- Joá Viewpoint: Located in the neighborhood of Joá, this exotic lookout is a hidden gem of Rio. From the top of this viewpoint, it's possible to see the Two Brothers Hill, São Conrado beach, and the Niemeyer avenue. Beside the spectacular view, the ruins of an old house in front of it, adds a charming atmosphere to this visit.
